Christmas Morality according to Marc

Since we have a lot of family coming over during the holidays, we reviewed with Marc and Lisey the rules of being polite at Christmas.

Me: "What do you say when someone gives you a gift?"

Them: "Thank you."

Me: "What do you say when someone gives you a gift you already have?"

Them: "Thank you."

Marc: "Yeah, then you leave the tags on so you can take it Target later and get what you really wanted."

Me: "What do you say when someone gives you a gift you really don't like."

Them: "Thank you."

*pause*

Marc: "So pretty much, you lie."

Me: "Yup, pretty much."

LOL. I love Marc and I haven't even met him yet. I love kids' honesty.

We told them the same thing...next year we need to work on having them control their facial expressions...their expressions didn't match their words!! LOL!

I had a conversation with DS the other day about telling the truth, trying to assess if he knew the difference between lying and truth-telling. He had a pretty good idea, but then shocked me when he piped up with, "But sometimes it's best to lie." I asked him when it was best to lie, and he didn't know. So we went over some possible scenarios--when mom asks if this dress makes her butt look big, if someone gets an awful new haircut and asks what you think...
